[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Auronzo di Cadore and the dolomities’s frame” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]The town of Auronzo di Cadore (864 meters above sea level) runs from Mount Ajarnola to Lake Santa Caterina. With over 8 km in length it is the longest valley bottom of the Cadore, immersed in a verdant valley, framed by the Dolomite peaks of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the Cadini, the Croda dei Toni and the Corno del Doge.<\/p>\n

The beautiful landscape is reflected in the waters of Lake Santa Caterina, formed in the thirties of last century following the construction of the dam and is fed by the stream Ansiei.<\/p>\n

This mountain resort is an ancient settlement, consisting of eleven hamlets: Cima Gogna, Cella, Villapiccola, Villagrande, Rizi\u00f2, Reane, Pause, Ligonto, Giralbe, S. Marco and Misurina. It is a popular holiday resort since the late 800 and was frequented by famous people like Giosu\u00e8 Carducci.<\/p>\n

The municipal territory of Auronzo di Cadore also includes the renowned hamlet of Misurina, known for the lake of the same name located in one of the most majestic alpine basins.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Somadida Forest in Palus San Marco is worth mentioning.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Why Auronzo di Cadore” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]
\nWe can begin with the church of S.Giustina which is located in Villagrande and was built in the eighteenth century and replaced the previous church, dating back a few centuries earlier. Inside the organ of 1780, it was realized by Gaetano Callido.<\/p>\n

The church of San Lucano is octagonal in classical style. Inside there are works by De Min, by Tommaso De Nicol\u00f2, by Besar\u00e8l, present also an organ created by De Lorenzi.<\/p>\n

The church of the Madonna delle Grazie is located between Villagrande and Villapiccola, was built for a vote aimed at invoking the end of disputes with the Pusterese for the possession of Misurina.<\/p>\n

Other churches in Auronzo di Cadore are: the church of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria and the church of San Rocco and San Sebastiano.<\/p>\n
